Magical Elopement Inspiration from Tofino, BC

Three intimate concepts. One dreamy hotel. Endless West Coast magic.

Those that know me, know I’m a West Coast girl through and through, and I think that’s largely due to being raised in North Vancouver’s mountains. So when an opportunity arose to team up with THE spot in Tofino - the Wickaninnish Inn - I knew I wanted to make it something magical.

I knew we would be shooting in multiple locations, so it was really important to me to be intentional in design: choosing elements that could transform in different spaces, while still also creating unique, individual looks.

Location #1: Howard’s Wine Cellar

The team started their day shooting a modern reception inside the Inn’s incredible wine cellar: a haven for wine and those that appreciate it. Gathering around the 20-foot-long yellow cedar table, you first notice the gorgeous mountain peaks built right into the table. Very representative of Tofino and the gorgeous BC landscape.

We love the greyscale colour palette, with green touches and lots of candles. Perfect for an intimate reception focused on delicious food and local wines.

Location #2: The Forest

Moving right along! Location number two showcases BC at its best - in the heart of the old-growth rainforest. Shooting mid-day, with gorgeous light peeking in, this makes for a perfect spot to say “I Do.”

The florist, from Wild Bloom, and I had both been dreaming about a “growing” installation. There was no better moment to bring that vision to life! The way this set of photographs turned out left me speechless… It felt like something out of a fairy tale!

Location #3: The Beach

The finale of this collaboration was on the Wick’s private beach: the most picturesque spot for a celebration of up to 60 guests. The venue provided beautiful live edge tables for the dinner service. Combine that with the tiki torches that light up the night, and optional s’mores over a campfire, and this place is a vibe!

Inspired by the location, we love the thematic menus, sea glass name cards, and pops of dusty blue in the napkins.

We also spy a portion of Wild Bloom’s floral installation from the forest, now making an appearance on the beach, as well as the centerpieces from the cellar.
